"Doris; my half blind half deaf slightly cross-eyed secretary."
via u/Psychoticmuse -
Doris was found with her kittens five years ago and taken in by a local rescue. Her kittens were adopted, but she was returned 17 times. People said they didn’t want a “typical tabby,” thought she was “too handicapped” or “too loud,” and complained that she wasn’t cuddly or couldn’t do tricks. Eventually, the rescue believed she might become their permanent resident.
An ear inf*ction affected Doris’s vision during treatment, leaving her able to see only shadows; her hearing also never fully recovered. Four years ago, she finally found a family who welcomed her as she was. Today, she’s thriving, loves her two dog siblings, and is part of a family that welcomed a little girl two years ago.

Her owner says Doris has “proven all of those previous people wrong.”

"I came here when my heart was shattered, but today i brought home a 12 year old cat who needed a second chance"
via u/MilaMale -
After losing their childhood cat, the poster found comfort in the kindness of a cat subreddit. When the empty spaces at home became too painful, they visited a local shelter, hoping to adopt an overlooked cat rather than a kitten. There, they met Barnaby, an older cat surrendered when his previous owner moved into a care facility. While younger cats attracted attention, he sat alone at the back of his cage, watching people pass him by.
They adopted him immediately. Barnaby is still hiding under the bed and hissing, but his new owner is patiently offering fancy wet food and reading aloud until he feels safe. They miss their old cat every day, yet feel she may have sent Barnaby their way.
-
“Meet Barnaby. We are going to be best friends, whether he likes it or not.”

"I was warned about tortitude when I adopted Lili and now I feel very lied to"
via u/Jahliv12 -
When the poster adopted Lilith as a kitten, friends warned them about “tortitude.” Instead, she turned out to be the sweetest little lovebug, constantly begging for cuddles, purring through every pet, and curling up on her human’s lap or under the blankets. Somehow, she’s only gotten sweeter with age!
She has even managed to win over Maple, the family’s older cat who usually dislikes everyone.

“She is my baby and I would do anything for her.”

"It would mean a lot to me if everyone would take a moment to see and read about Kit"
via u/SwitcherooTtar -
Kit was adopted from a local shelter 14 years ago, after her owner went looking for a new feline companion. Although they had hoped to adopt a boy cat, a pair of little white legs flailing out from the last cage caught their attention. Kit was reaching out for them, and it was clear she had made her choice! She quickly became a spoiled little princess, spending years sleeping right beside her human's head before deciding an electric heating pad was much more comfortable.
Over the years, Kit became the grumpy matriarch of a growing cat family, eventually learning to tolerate her feline siblings and even warming up to her owner's fiancée, whom she once considered a rival for attention. She was a sassy, affectionate, clingy companion who brought joy to her family for 14 wonderful years.

“Kit was sassy, sweet, and clingy as can be.”

"Meet my ordinarily named cat 'Luna', who has an extraordinary life"
via u/cherrynecter -
Luna had a few hurdles along the way to finding her forever home, including struggling to gain enough weight for her spaying. Two years after adoption, she also developed a bladder condition that took several vet visits to diagnose and now requires her to eat special food every day. Despite everything she's been through, Luna has remained an incredibly sweet and loving cat, with more than enough affection to share with everyone around her.
-
“She just has so much love in her heart.”

"I’ve officially joined the club. Everyone, meet Pippi!"
via u/u_r_succulent -
Pippi, short for Pipistrella because she’s “blind as a bat,” was rescued from the side of the road after losing most of her eyesight to FIP. Adopted from a local rescue just a few weeks ago, she’s now making up for all the kitten fun she missed while growing up sick. She loves playfully stalking her humans around the apartment, even if she isn't very good at it!
-
“She’s still got a lot of kittening to catch up on!”

"It feels like he sent his grandkids"

After their beloved 19-year-old cat Kevin passed away, the poster wasn't planning on adopting another cat just yet. But then a client at the veterinary clinic where they work arrived with two six-week-old kittens found in a ditch. The healthy, friendly little ones needed a home together, and the person who rescued them didn't want them separated in a shelter. It took just one day to decide. Both kittens were black, just like Kevin, and it felt like a sign from the universe. Now, Mulder and Scully are almost eight months old and thriving.

“My home has been the best kind of chaos ever since.”

"Madi, My first ever kitten at 39. I’m over the moon :3"
via u/wehuntxbot -
After wanting a cat for years, the poster finally adopted one from a friend once their cat-fearing sister moved out. They worried their new companion might not like them, but after just one week, she was already following them everywhere, sleeping beside them, and staying close whenever they reached out to pet her.

“I love her so much :3”

ChiChi, a sweet and social stray, appeared out of nowhere and was taken in by the poster's brother. The family soon discovered she was pr*gnant and made sure she had everything she needed for a healthy delivery. She gave birth to five kittens, three of whom found loving homes, while the family decided to keep two little brothers, Onix and Jack.
Their cats, Gummy and Reiko, quickly became fond of the kittens. ChiChi eventually moved in too, and the family is now preparing to get all three vaccinated and neutered. Onix is an energetic little ankle biter who can't get enough playtime!
-
“He's always looking for playtime.”

"My SIC, Olive"
-
Olive was adopted from a cat café this summer, and she practically chose her new family herself, walking right into her carrier when it was time to go home! She settled in quickly, turning out to be sweet, chatty, and playful with the family dogs, even keeping her claws tucked away.
-
“She loves my husband, but he is the spare human.”
